Albéa & L’Oréal unveil eco-friendly cardboard tube for La Roche-Posay

Beauty group L’Oréal has launched its first product packaged in a paper-based tube, the fruit of a partnership with packaging company Albéa.

Housing La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios suncare product, the tube is the result of a year-long collaboration between the two companies. The tube reduces the amount of plastic used by 45% compared to existing solutions, replacing it with FSC-certified cardboard. The remaining plastic is needed to protect the formula and ensure the tube is water-resistant. 

Albéa had previously announced that it would invest in new lines integrating specific tooling for the paper-based tubes initially in its plant in Poland and potentially also in France.
