Polish super premium vodka brand Belvedere’s (LVMH) new drinks buckets are now made from PP rather than ABS, with 30% recycled content.
In line with its sustainability strategy, Polish vodka brand Belvedere has reworked its vodka buckets to make them recyclable, opting for more eco-friendly materials and decoration processes.
French supplier Doogood, which has produced Belvedere’s buckets since 2018, used the same mold for the new version. The bucket is now made from PP, with 30% recycled content (recycled virgin scrap), rather than the ABS used previously. Doogood highlights that recycled PP is harder to implement for a component of this size and thickness while meeting criteria in terms of injection, light diffusion and aesthetic appearance. Solvent-free paint has replaced solvent-based paint for the decoration. The ring that was previously painted with solvent-based paint is now bulk-dyed, and is clipped into place rather than glued.
The new bucket is almost 23% lighter than its predecessor, weighing in at 980g rather than 1.27kg. According to Doogood, this 290g savings enables shipment weight to be reduced by one ton for a full container.
The finished product can be recycled and the different components separated at end-of-life.
