BillerudKorsnäs unveils CrownBoard premium range

Launched at Luxe Pack Monaco, CrownBoard is BillerudKorsnäs’ new premium board brand. Its high tensile strength allows for substantial lightweighting when it comes to packaging. "With CrownBoard, we’re looking to address the plastic challenge," explains Magnus Levinsson, business segment director cartonboard at BillerudKorsnäs. “We’re offering a renewable, non-fossil alternative that can reduce the proportion of plastic and replace it in the packaging context”. The new cardboard range comes in three variants made of 100% virgin wood fiber and is available in several thicknesses and weights for the perfumery and cosmetics, health, beverage and premium confectionery sectors. Its strength comes from both its composition of long, strong fibers from slow-growing Nordic trees and the material’s multijet design structure. Within the new range, the flagship CrownBoard Prestige high brightness offers a combination of strength/formability and printability in a bid to meet the requirements of premium brands. The second product in the range, CrownBoard Artisan, has a silky touch surface that brings a tactile dimension to the packaging. To complete the picture, CrownBoard Craft is an ultra-resistant and versatile white/brown cardboard. The launch at the show included a sample book of the three CrownBoard variants in all weight ranges featuring advanced printing, embossing, varnishing and marking techniques: "an inspiration and a reference for both printers and packaging converters," notes Magnus Levinsson.
