Clarins’ Joli Rouge lipstick first to market with Aptar’s Private Refill

The Joli Rouge lipstick packaging from French beauty brand Clarins uses Aptar Reboul’s Private Refill mechanism. The aluminum casing comes in either lacquered or anodized versions.

Clarins’ latest lipstick launch, Joli Rouge, combines make-up and skincare properties. The bespoke, refillable lipstick packaging is produced by Aptar Beauty + Home, with Clarins the first brand to launch a product using the supplier’s Private Refill mechanism.

The refillable lipstick has a safety key in its mechanism specific to each brand to prevent consumers from using the refill alone or with a competitor's case.

The aluminum case is available in three colors: lacquered red or white or anodized gold. It is adorned with a bespoke, metallized monogram collar with invisible parting line. The casing contains recycled plastic, while the mechanism is in POM and said to be free of styrene and silicone.

From the second refill carbon footprint is said to be reduced by 45%.

Clarins’ Joli Rouge launched this January. The case retails at €13 and the refill €23.
