Cosmetic Valley eyes international development with new communications strategy

On the eve of its 30th anniversary, Cosmetic Valley has announced a new growth strategy for 2023 and beyond. Developing internationally is now a priority for the French beauty business cluster.

At an event at the Château de Versailles last week, French competitiveness cluster Cosmetic Valley unveiled a new communications strategy, logo and tagline: “the beating heart of the world cosmetics industry”.

Cosmetic Valley outlined five priorities that are to drive its development in the years to come: building “win-win” public-private partnerships with local, national and European authorities; continued R&D efforts, including strategies focused on decarbonization, circular economy and digital transformation; boosting jobs in the cosmetics sector and tackling labor shortages currently facing the industry; strengthening the impact of events organized by Cosmetic Valley, including annual Paris-based trade show Cosmetic 360 and the cluster's Cosmetic Victories awards, and finally, consolidating international communication operations around ‘Made in France’. Cosmetic Valley’s newly minted communication motto, France Cares For Your Skin, is the basis for an ambitious international communications strategy, says the cluster.

Initiatives implemented by Cosmetic Valley include the launch of IDcosm.com, a networking platform for innovation projects geared to the beauty industry. The cluster will also launch an employment platform that will highlight a variety of professions and list jobs vacancies and training courses.

Cosmetic Valley previously announced its ambition to create a Cosmetic Week, after signing a partnership with the Ile-de-France region in January this year. Based on the model of Fashion Week, Cosmetic Week will include open houses at different sites, demonstrations and workshops, with the aim of boosting the visibility of the French cosmetics sector on an international scale.

France's cosmetics industry represents 3,200 companies and 250,000 direct jobs. French cosmetics exports grew a record 18.8% in 2022 to exceed €19bn.
