More than 2,900 companies are exhibiting at Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna this March, an increase of 11% compared to 2022. The Cosmopack portion of the show will launch an Ingredients Zone and a revamped CosmoFactory installation this year.

Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna is taking place on March 16-20, 2023. Some 60% of the 2,900 exhibitors at the Italy-based trade show are European. Exhibitor numbers are up 11% on last year, and 64% countries will be represented at the event. This year, 29 country pavilions are lined up, with Australia, India, Argentina and Romania new participants for 2023.

Beauty tech will be a focus at the show this year, with an area in Hall 22 bringing together players specialized in areas including augmented reality, artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Perfect Corp, e-commerce AR company CamCom (Auglio), and augmented shopping specialist Pulpoar are among the companies exhibiting in the beauty tech zone.

The Cosmopack area, which is dedicated to the supply chain, including formulation, machinery and packaging, will account for 17% of total exhibitors. Companies exhibiting in this space include Baralan, Epopack, Berlin Packaging Premi Industries, Geka, Lumson and Heinz Glas.

Ingredients & raw materials focus

The Cosmopack portion of the show will once again include CosmoFactory, which this year will have a new look and concept. Dubbed Encoding Beauty, this ninth edition focuses on ingredients, beauty supply chain transparency and the potential of track and trace technologies. Rather than recreating the manufacturing process, it focuses on the entire lifecycle of a product - Regenerative Aloe Face Cream. The installation is curated by Studio Sara Ricciardi, and combines ingredient research from N&B - Natural Is Better, refillable airless packaging from Induplast Packaging Group, and a “digital product identity” developed by Antares Vision Group.

New for 2023 is the Ingredients Zone, a new exhibition area in Hall 20 dedicated to ingredients, fragrances, and formulation services. Exhibitors in this area include Expressions Parfumées, Univar Solutions, Scents from Nature and Luban.

On the packaging front, the Cosmotalks conference program includes a session entitled “Is 100% Circularity in Cosmetics Packaging Achievable?” The panel, moderated by re-sources.co’s Eva Lagarde, brings together speakers Frederic Dreux (Unilver), Carlo Andriolo (Aliplast), Olaf Zhara (Toly) and Emmanuel Hembert (Quantis), who will explore refillable, recyclable and ‘no packaging’ beauty. The “Cosmetic Art: Design Your Brand Difference” session looks at how beauty brands can stand out from the crowd with speakers from Kantar, TikTok and Interparfums.

The winners of the Cosmoprof and Cosmopack Awards, in partnership with trends agency Beautystreams, will be announced at a gala event on the Friday evening.
