Dior’s Sauvage EdT rolls out refill format

Parfums Christian Dior’s iconic men’s fragrance Sauvage is now refillable, thanks to an aluminum refill system conceived for the 100ml EdT bottle as well as a newly developed 30ml format.

For the Sauvage refill system, Dior called on Techniplast, the French supplier that has created fragrance refill systems for the likes of Kilian, Diptyque and Giorgio Armani.

The refill consists of a 300ml recyclable aluminum container and Techniplast’s patented RT-Twist plastic cap – in PP for the internal components that are in contact with the fragrance, and in polyester for the external part dyed in “Dior Sauvage” black.

The cap clips onto the collar of the container and enables the fragrance flacons to be refilled. To refill the fragrance, the consumer removes the cap, unscrews the pump (Silgan Dispensing's Melodie Pirouette model) from the bottle and clips the refill into place. The fragrance flows into the bottle and stops when it is full. The 300ml refill was designed for the 100ml scent, as well as for a new 30ml travel version.

Dior says that it chose an aluminum container for the refill to protect the fragrance from light and thus extend its shelf life. Using a 100ml flacon and the 300ml refill rather than four 100ml flacons is said to save 60% in energy consumption, 35% in water consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 56%.

Created by house perfumer François Demachy and first launched in 2015, Dior Sauvage EdT contains notes of Calabrian bergmaot and ambroxan.
