French aluminum stamping specialist g.pivaudran is moving forward with its industrial investments. An injection of €6m will enable the supplier to double its anodization capacities by 2022 and offer a larger palette of finishes.

The €6m investment project of family-owned g.pivaudran includes €800,000 in outside funding. The company is benefitting from France Relance, the French government’s investment plan to reboot the economy in light of the health crisis, and the associated Territoires d’Industrie scheme to support manufacturing.

“It’s a multi-step project that we’ve been working on for almost three years,” Marc Pivaudran told Luxe Packaging Insight. The Souillac-based company has expanded its site to make way for the new surface treatment line, which was originally set to come into service before the end of 2020. “The project experienced delays as technical decisions took longer than expected,” he explains. “With the arrival of the crisis, we decided to delay the project until we had better visibility on the market.”

The line will be operational in 2022, allowing the company to double its anodization capacity. “This new line will boost productivity, provide a higher quality of components and a greater variety of finishes with an expanded color palette,” says Pivaudran, adding that the project could create 40 new jobs within five years.

While g.pivaudran has a strong foothold in the fragrance market, having worked on packaging components for major launches from Cartier, Chanel and Dior, for example, the company announced its ambitions to develop in the spirits segment in 2018. Since then, it has done several small-volume projects in this segment.

“The spirits market remains dynamic, and we hope to strengthen our presence in this segment with larger-scale projects to make a name for ourselves. We want to show that while zamak may be a material of choice, aluminum can also be a quality technical solution for spirits stoppers,” Pivaudran says.
