Glenfiddich unveils ultra-premium Time Re:Imagined Scotch whisky collection

The passage of time was the driving concept behind Glenfiddich’s latest scotch whisky collection Time Re:Imagined. Comprising three ultra-premium expressions, each packaging is conceived as a bespoke sculpture.

Scotch whisky brand Glenfiddich (William Grant & Sons) has released a rare collection of whiskies inspired by the exploration of time. The range comprises 30-Year-Old Suspended in Time, 40-Year-Old Cumulative Time and 50-Year-Old Simultaneous Time.

London-based agency Here was behind the concept and design of the primary and secondary packaging. The range features two decanters that build on the brand’s iconic bottle, first designed in 1961 by designer Hans Schleger. The 30-Year-Old and 40-Year-Old come in a triangular bottle (Bormioli Luigi) with prominent shoulders and a screen-printed golden stag on the facing. The 30-year-old dons an embossed paper label (Eurostampa), printed on Avery Dennison’s Granit Blanc substrate with hot-foil finishing.

The stopper (Amorim) and collar (Segede) are both made of zamak. In addition to a debossed zamak collar (Segede), the 40-Year-Old features a bespoke jesmonite – a composite material comprised of a mineral base in an acrylic resin - stopper (Zone Creations) with a debossed zamak coin inserted on the surface.

The 50-Year-Old is housed in a bespoke, hand-blown three-sided crystal decanter (Glasstorm) comprised of two opposing triangles - one at the base and one at the shoulder. A stag is etched into the crystal, while a custom aluminum stopper and collar (both Amorim) are engraved with the spirit’s age and name.

The secondary packaging (GPA Luxury) for the 30-Year-Old has a ribbon-like design, with cut-out windows revealing the decanter inside. The case is made of laser-cut and embossed aluminum, with a silicon-lined section to protect the glass. The medallion on the case's top is laser-etched, and the outer surface is sprayed to achieve an ombre effect.

Inspired by geological changes over time, the 40-Year-Old’s casing (Zone Creations) is made of jesmonite blended with green cullet from the Glenfiddich 12-year-old bottle, and offcut copper from its stills. The bottle is protected by a lined inner fitment and is topped with an etched medallion.

Made of aviation grade aluminum, the 50-Year-Old’s casing (Zone Creations) integrates what is described as 50 years of weather data (air temperature, pressure and humidity) from the time of the whisky's maturation. Data artist Manuel Jimènez Garcìa translated the data into a "physical language" to create the secondary pack. The brand logo is etched into a mirrored coin on the top.

Glenfiddich 30-Year-Old Suspended Time is priced at €1,050 for 70cl, Glenfiddich 40-Year- Old Cumulative Time retails at €4,000 and Glenfiddich 50-Year-Old Simultaneous Time, with only 220 pieces available, costs €40.000.
