LVMH-owned cognac purveyor Hennessy is celebrating 75 years of the NBA with a limited-edition decanter for its Paradis cognac. Place Vendôme jeweler Lorenz Bäumer is behind the design of the spherical, Baccarat crystal decanter and orange leather cubic coffret retailing for €150,000.
Hennessy (LVMH) has added to its Editions Rares collection with a Paradis cognac housed in a spherical-shaped decanter in Baccarat crystal. Parisian jeweler Lorenz Bäumer came up with the primary and secondary packaging design, which fetes 75 years of professional basketball league the NBA. For the primary pack, Bäumer “envisioned a dynamic, sculptural decanter that would fuse the excitement of basketball with the poetry of Paradis and the fire of a diamond,” says Hennessy.
The limited-edition, 1.75-liter decanter in Baccarat crystal is mouth-blown. The surface, with its planes faceted by hand, is designed to “amplify the coppery reflections of the cognac inside”. The treads of the basketball are hand-gilded, and a golden key is fitted in the decanter’s opening.
The key opens both the decanter and its cubic coffret, lending the creation a “jewel-box” quality. Sheathed in orange leather, the coffret is embellished with gold markings in a nod to a basketball’s design. When opened, the articulated design folds flat to double as a trophy case, with a signed and numbered golden plaque.
Two custom Baccarat balloon glasses accompany the cognac, along with a fusil.
Just 75, numbered decanters are available, priced at €150,000.
