Japanese art of ikebana in the spotlight for new Hermès scent

For the packaging of its new Hermessence fragrance Rose Ikebana, Hermès called on artist Shinsuke Kawahara. The packaging combines a screenprinted flacon topped with a cap sheathed in leather.

French luxury maison Hermès has added to its Hermessence collection with a limited-edition fragrance, Rose Ikebana. The flacon features floral illustrations from illustrator and designer Shinsuke Kawahara highlighting Ikebana, or the Japanese art of floral arrangement.

Kawahara’s illustrations are screenprinted on the 200ml lacquered fragrance bottle. The 100ml version has a Tadelakt calf leather sheath that is hand painted with the artist’s designs by an artisan at Hermès’ tableware and enamel workshops. Both fragrance flacons are topped with caps sheathed in leather.

The Hermessence Rose Ikebana limited-edition launched this February.
