With the addition of Portugeuse natural cork manufacturer Anacorks to its portfolio, Italian premium closures specialist Labrenta is expanding its international footprint in the spirits closures market.
Labrenta’s purchase of Portuguese supplier Anacorks (€3m turnover in 2021), is the fruit of a two-pronged strategy for the Italian closures manufacturer: to secure supply in the natural cork segment in the context of its Green Deal 2030 plan, and to meet growing demand in the whisky, cognac and tequila markets, which are seeing growing interest in natural cork solutions.
Anacorks operates two manufacturing sites and counts 20 employees. A third factory is set to open this year to support growth in the markets of Mexico, the US, the UK, South Africa and Singapore, explains Labrenta in a statement.
“This acquisition is one of the building blocks of Labrenta’s internationalization and verticalization plan for supply chain control, which today counts two production sites in the Americas (Brazil and Mexico) in addition to the Italian facility,” said the company.
