Luxe Pack Monaco: innovations preview

In the final stretch before the packaging event of the year opens in Monaco, we’ve shortlisted just a few of the innovations not to be missed at Luxe Pack, which opens on September 30th. Awantys will launch Awyverde, a new "recyclable and biodegradable" material destined for primary packaging applications and composed of two-thirds cellulose and one-third mineral content. The manufacturer explains that this solution is considerably more cost efficient than traditional bio-plastics. When it comes to labels, at Italian manufacturer Alfreschi & Alfreschi they are composed of “noble materials”: marble, travertine, limestone... while at Azur Adhesives the bio-sourced solution is making a comeback this year. In partnership with Avery Dennison, the supplier will present Cane Fiber, a paper made of 95%sugar cane and the remainder a blend of hemp and flax fibers. Curious Alchemy, Arjowiggins Creative Papers' latest range, showcases the decorative potential of metal through sheets with "hammered and patinated" effects in shades of copper, silver, titanium, platinum and gold. BillerudKorsnäs will present its new cardboard collection, CrownBoard: three skus described as "climate smart" and particularly resistant due to their composition made exclusively of virgin fiber. Eska Jeans, a board made with post-consumer denim will be highlighted at Eska’s booth. The Dutch cardboard manufacturer will also be showing the latest new colors to join the Eska Colors collection: blue, azure, taupe, yellow and green. Finnish supplier Paptic’s new Tringa range will be presented in 125gsm format. The company will also be showing a range of e-commerce mailers. On the sampling front, Arcade Beauty is launching a mini jar with sieve whose perforation size can be modified via laser, a technology that the sampling expert now offers in-house. Another innovation, Stand Alone is a thermoformed sample (lipstick, foundation...) composed of a cup on a printed card that is produced in a single piece. Bormioli Luigi will highlight the multitude of decorative effects and finishes possible through lacquering as well as Inside Mirror, the new metallic version of its interior lacquering technique. Also on the glassmaking side, Heinz Glas will present its next-generation connected flacon as well as new sustainability initiatives. At Slovenian glassmaker Steklarna Hrastnik, its "smart perfume bottle" will be on display as will be a selection of new standard spirits references.
