Make a Mark: Unleashing inspiration

Together with the Make a Mark community, Estal, KURZ and Avery Dennison invite the world’s best talents in packaging, design, materials and printing, to work hand in hand to unleash inspiration on a larger scale.

Make a Mark is first and foremost an original collaborative approach initiated by three leaders in their fields: Estal (glass), KURZ (embellishment) and Avery Dennison (materials science). The objective: to offer brands new packaging concepts - never realized before - using their technologies. “Making the impossible possible!” summarizes Stéphane Royère, Head of Business Area Packaging & Print at KURZ. “We increasingly need to offer the market what is trendy, with a disruptive but industrializable design, with maximum durability but with real values and, to achieve these objectives, we must work very closely to the design” explains Gerard Alberti, CEO of Estal.

What Make a Mark wants is to revolutionize conceptualization and execution by opening the boundaries of inspiration, sensitivity and intuition of the ecosystem. “To federate a dynamic community of exchanges between brands, designers, suppliers of materials and printers, united by the same desire for creativity” notes Stéphane Royère. The appreciation of differences is key, according to him, to achieve the desired result. What sets Make a Mark apart is the freedom granted in the creative process, but also the connectivity to the biggest names and rising stars in design around the world (18 in 2021, 20 in 2022), according to Vladimir Tyulpin, Market Segment Leader, Premium Packaging Solutions at Avery Dennison.

To keep track of this overflowing creativity, all the designs will be compiled each year in a book, and a sample packaging will be produced for each edition. The first one in 2020 led to the realization of four projects. “An Irish whiskey, an American gin and a French wine will soon be on shelves,” announces Stéphane Royère. For now, Javier Demsky from Alicante, street art genius designer and member of the Make a Mark community, has created the Formes de Luxe Awards trophy for the next LUXE PACK 2022. “Its metallic bottle with special labeling combines - in its own style - the technologies of Estal, Avery Dennison and KURZ”, he notes. Printing and stamping dies were provided by German printer Vollherbstdruck and tooling specialist Hinderer + Mühlich. A first success clearly visible to all!
