Pacollection rewrites the rules

Paco Rabanne (Puig) is clearly set on breaking the rules of fragrance packaging, as seen by its new collection Pacollection, described as falling “outside of the category’s codes,” according to Julien Dossena, artistic director for the fashion brand.

The traditional glass bottle has been replaced by an “indestructible” flexible pouch produced by TNT Global Manufacturing. “The outer packaging is made by laminating and super-positioning multiple layers; an automated production line was specially created to carry out the soldering around the rim,” explains the manufacturer.

The six products—Genius Me, Erotic Me, Fabulous Me, Crazy Me, Dangerous Me and Strong Me—each feature a metallized surface in a different color gradiant on a silver background. While details of the manufacturing process remain confidential, Thomas Diezinger, president of TNT Global Manufacturing, reveals that the main technology was inspired by the process used to make wax cloth.

The cap and collar are made by Tesem and the pump was supplied by Silgan. For its secondary pack, the fragrance pouch is slipped into a reusable tinted chrome box. In terms of the sustainable angle of the project, Paco Rabanne says that “most” of the packaging elements are recyclable.

Pacollection was created to reflect the  fashion designer’s early creations; he was known for working with different materials, especially metal. “This collection marks 50 years of staunchly unique exploration in fragrance by Paco Rabanne,” notes the brand.

The fragrance collection was composed by five renowned perfumers: Dominique Ropion (IFF), Fabrice Pellegrin (Firmenich), Marie Salamagne (Firmenich), Alienor Massenet (Symrise), and Quentin Bisch (Givaudan).
