German supplier Procos is looking to capture the exponential growth in e-commerce sales with its new shipping packs Yoga and Yoga Light.
With retail stores in numerous markets shuttering once again due to the second round of lockdowns, the German supplier is banking on the burgeoning e-commerce market to compensate for a lag in sales of shopping bags. Its new solutions? Yoga and Yoga Light: two shipping boxes geared to luxury brands. Both folding boxes are delivered flat and are each comprised of two parts: an outer shipping box in corrugated cardboard and an inner box that can be customized (decoration, size and finishing). “Our aim with these new solutions is that the moment of delivery becomes a purchasing experience of its own,” explains Stephanie Havard, Director of Operations. Available in up to 100% FSC-sourced cardboard, Yoga Light weighs around 20% less than the standard Yoga model, made of gray cardboard covered in paper. Both solutions are free of magnets.
Procos also has an eco-designed insert system in the pipeline, which it aims to launch in time for the end-of-year holidays. Made of cardboard and ribbons conceived to be easily separated (in cotton, RPET or Tencel), the insert will designed with a “gift aspect”, in a bid to transform it from a utilitarian component to a decorative object.
Procos Managing Director Leander Kritikos notes that today the company’s turnover — around €26m forecast for 2020 — is evenly split between shopping bags and e-commerce solutions. Its production is based both in China and in Bulgaria, and with the help of its internal European Sourcing Program, launched nearly two years ago, Procos is looking to boost production for local markets. While European brands account for a significant portion of its business, the China local market is also “highly strategic”, concludes Kritikos.
