Rhum Clément’s Canne Bleue goes glitter for 2021 vintage

For the 21st edition of its Canne Bleu blue sugarcane rum from Martinique, Rhum Clément opted for a blue and gold bottle with glitter finish. France’s Maison Linea came up with the packaging design.

A festive, glittery pack to contrast with the gloom of the global pandemic was the idea behind the 2021 edition of Rhum Clément’s Canne Bleue white rum. “Sparkling and summery, the aesthetics of this vintage recall the beaches of Martinique on a summer night; the bottle appears to have been half buried in the fine sand,” design agency Maison Linea explains.

Like previous editions, this year’s rum is housed in Saverglass’ standard Ness bottle. It features a gold and blue sleeve (Sleever International) with a tactile glitter finish – achieving a realistic, tactile glittery rendering with a play of golds and varnishes in relief was particularly challenging, says Maison Linea. Sleever's Metalfest provides the intense and glossy metallic blue background, while Skinsense is used to create the tactile glitter effects.

Rhum Clément’s Canne Bleue 2021’s aromatic profile blends orange blossom, sugar cane, tropical fruits and spiced notes.

Launched last December, the rum retails at €35.
