French personalized fragrance company Sillages Paris has unveiled its first foray into candles. Forgoing traditional candle jars, the brand has instead opted for sculpted wax on a colored concrete base.
Sillages Paris has entered the home fragrance category, launching its first candles. The brand sought to shake up candles’ traditional design codes, with its sculpted wax products resting on a concrete base (Paname Workshop) rather than in a jar.
“We chose sculpted candles because it allows for a stronger diffusion of fragrance. When the candle is lit, it offers a 360° diffusion, whereas those in glass jars diffuse only via the top,” Sillages Paris founder Maxime Garcia-Janin tells Luxe Packaging Insight. While candles in glass jars generally require two hours to fragrance a room, Sillages’ sculpted candles can do so in 30 minutes, he adds. “Another advantage is that the fragrance is diffused even when the candle is not lit – a little like a soap left in a cupboard.”
The candles come in a range of scents - Jasmin plâtre, Bergamote Galet, Santal Tabasco, Rose Semoule… Each candle can be personalized online, with consumers indicating their preferred fragrances and desired intensity. Customers can also select the color of the base on which the candle sits.
