LUXE PACK Shanghai is gearing up to open its doors next week alongside MakeUp in Shanghai. Chinese industrial designer Jamy Yang is the guest of honor at the show. The event plays host to the LUXE PACK in Green sustainability awards, a bamboo-focused animation from design agency centdegrès and a two-day conference program covering trends, design and e-commerce.
Sustainability and design will be key themes at the 2021 edition of LUXE PACK Shanghai, according to show organizers Idice. The event, taking place on July 7th-8th in tandem with MakeUp in Shanghai, is set to welcome 210 exhibitors, 35% of which are new. New exhibitors include those in the fields of primary packaging and high tech as well as design agencies.
Industrial designer Jamy Yang will be the guest of honor at the event. With his combination of “German logic thinking and Chinese humanistic spirit”, Yang has worked with brands including Hermès and Hennessy. For LUXE PACK Shanghai, he has designed an exhibition space for the LUXE PACK in Green sustainable packaging awards applicants, which will showcase some of his own designs as well. Yang is also giving a much-anticipated keynote speech on the theme of “Kindly Design” on the show’s opening day.
Other highlights of the event will include spirits specialist Yanghe Group’s space dedicated to its product offer, whose packaging is inspired by the tech industry. Herborist SPA is using the show as the global launchpad for a new personal-care range that has a natural positioning and is focused on addressing seasonal impact on the skin..
And LUXE PACK Shanghai partner centdegrés is hosting an immersive animation around a bamboo “forest” where visitors will discover a lifestyle product designed with sustainability in mind. This candle has a hidden inner compartment containing seed papers designed to be planted in the glass jar once the wax is consumed. The experience was created in collaboration with centdegrés, Bormioli Luigi, RC Packaging, Firmenich, Fedrigoni and Fenshang.
The show also plays host to a comprehensive, two-day conference program with sister show Make Up in. Florence Alleman of Peclers Shanghai is giving a conference on how new consumer shifts, social impact and ethical commitments will redefine packaging innovation. “E-commerce packaging: between premiumization, Gen.Z seduction and collectors”, is a roundtable moderated by Daxue Consulting featuring speakers from Alibaba Group and Essentia Beauty China.
And last but not least, the LUXE PACK in Green awards ceremony is taking place on July 7th at 4.20pm.
