Verescence, Eviosys & Grown.Bio team up for eco-designed cosmetics coffret

Glassmaker Verescence, metal packaging specialist Eviosys and biotech company Grown.bio have partnered to create a sustainable cosmetics coffret that showcases their respective areas of expertise. The gift set is also designed to inspire brands in their sustainability efforts.

As consumers continue to look for products that are customized, unique and more respectful of the planet, Verescence, Eviosys and Grown.Bio have created what they claim is “the cosmetics industry’s most sustainable gift box”. In rethinking the traditional cosmetics or fragrance coffret, the partners sought to use only materials that reduce packaging weight, and adhere to the principles of reuse and recycle.

A limited-edition, the metal coffret is both reusable and recyclable. Supplier Eviosys adapted its existing product to fit with the insert and the glass flacons. The compostable, carbon-negative insert (Grown.Bio) made from mushrooms can be broken up and mixed with soil to be used as fertilizer at end of life. The refillable and recyclable glass flacons come from glassmaker Verescence’s new CARA haute parfumerie standards range. A screw pump enables the fragrance flacons to be refilled in-store or at-home, and line also includes mini-formats for fragrance, skincare and make-up. Since September, Verescence’s standards offer is made with 20% PCR glass.

“This collaboration with Eviosys and GrownBio has allowed us to promote the most sustainable packaging options for our customers, as each component of the gift set is either recyclable, reusable or compostable. We also believe it can be a source of inspiration for brands as they work towards becoming more sustainable," Verescence Marketing Director Bérangère Raguenet said in a statement.
