The launch of Aptar Beauty + Home’s Future pump, entirely made of PE, is set to shake up the dispensing market.
Future is dispensing specialist Aptar Beauty + Home’s answer to the market’s demand for a mono-material, 100% recyclable pump. Free of metallic components, notably the metal spring found in traditional pumps, Future is made of PE, a material that the supplier explains is “widely used and recycled throughout the world”. The pump is also available in a Post Consumer Resin version, the result of what Aptar describes as “advanced recycling”, or recycling processes that allow for the same level of quality as the original polymer. Given that the dip tube is transparent, the pump is also a good fit for transparent PET bottles.
Future is suited to different viscosities and comes in two dosage capacities and two diameters. It features an integrated on/off locking system that snaps into place with a “double click” action and a 360° actuator. As the new pump is Amazon ISTA 6 approved, it is also suited to products destined for e-commerce.
“The ideal situation for the entire value chain is to have access to mono-material packaging, where container, dispensing system and closure are made of the same material. This was the challenge that our innovation team faced with the development of Future, and they succeeded!” comments Christophe Marie, Director of Product Sustainability at Aptar.
Aptar has outlined three major axes of development in the area of sustainable development: working with recycled materials, recyclability and reuse. It aims for all of its packaging solutions to be reusable, recyclable or compostable by the year 2025.
